McLeansboro, IL – Boni Mulligan, RN and BNATP instructor for Hamilton Memorial Hospital District will instruct the students enrolled in the CNA class that began Wednesday, February 3, 2010 on the HMHD campus.
The CNA class offered through HMHD is a state approved program for those who live in the service area of Hamilton Memorial Hospital District, have at least an eighth grade education, are 16 years of age or older, and physically able to perform “hands on” patient care.
Methods of instruction include lecture, and lab practice sessions. Students perform patient care under the supervision of the class instructor at both the Hospital and Nursing Center during the clinical rotation of the CNA course. The clinic skills of the student are evaluated for competency by the HMHD Basic Nurse Aide Training Program, or BNATP, instructor and an independent BNATP, instructor not employed by HMHD. Students are responsible for fees associated with the class, such as workbook, criminal background check, state testing fees, urine drug screening, and uniform fees. There are no tuition fees and textbooks are loaned until class completion.
After course completion, students who sit for the state competency exam for Certified Nursing Assistant and receive a passing grade, are eligible for employment.
